A Small Patch Here, Small Patch There, A Huge Update To Windows

It is another day and another virus pretending to be an anti-virus system. The real harm with these fake anti-virus viruses is that they actually lower your security settings on the computer, which then makes it easier for other malicious software to load on to your computer. Probably the most annoying part is that they tend to lock down what you can and cannot do on your computer; it’s pretty much a super intrusive virus. If you notice that you have this virus, just shut your computer down and seek help to remove the virus.

May 2014 Patch Tuesday Rolls Out 8 Bulletins
“This month’s Patch Tuesday features eight bulletins, the most number of bulletins released for the year so far. Out of the eight bulletins, two are rated as ‘critical’ and the remaining, ‘important.’ While Microsoft may have released an out-of-band update for Windows XP to address a (then) zero-day vulnerability, updates for that OS are noticeably absent for this rollout.”

To Patch Or Not To Patch
Unlike in Hamlet, there is no question when it comes to patching your operating system. Seriously. Do it. Windows will even do it automatically for you every Tuesday night! I know some times in the business end of the IT world, patching a server and the clients can be a bit of a hassle and time consuming, but the security updates, the malicious software updates, and the quality of life updates that come with each update is just too good to pass up. If you are one of those people who are sitting there not doing it, I am sure you think you have good reasons, but they are not. Update your computer.
