DIY solutions
Are your work computers freezing up, lagging, or running insufficiently? We know that many common computer issues have simple solutions. Before you contact a repair service, we recommend you try these DIY solutions first.
However, before attempting any solution, it’s essential that you back up all of your data. You should perform regular backups to ensure that you don’t lose data in the event of hardware or software failure. If you’re experiencing issues with your machine, we recommend more frequent backups. Data recovery services can be very expensive and there is no guarantee that lost data can be restored. Read: Mission Critical Data to understand the importance of maintaining regular data backups for your business.
After backing up your data, the next step we recommend is to turn your computer off, and leave it off for 30 seconds before turning it back on. If this doesn’t resolve your issues, low storage space may be the cause of your slow-running system. Try deleting all unnecessary files and programs, then empty your recycling bin. If your system doesn’t respond to either of these solutions, we recommend trying a free virus and malware scan. We recommend checking out: Data and Privacy Day 2019 to learn more about the scans and antivirus solutions we recommend.
If you do not feel comfortable attempting these steps or are unable to, we are happy to help. Of course, if these recommendations don’t resolve your issues, there may be deeper problems causing your troubles. As hardware ages, it can quickly lose pace with new technology. It may be more costly to repair your device than to replace it, especially if it’s more than a few years old. Check out: Hidden Costs of Not Upgrading to learn more about the need to keep your system up to date.
Common issues
When our team arrives on-site, our first step is to diagnose the issue that is plaguing your computers. By understanding the most common issues that businesses face with their computer systems, we are able to quickly identify and begin resolving your issues.
Often, the problem may be uninstalled or corrupted Windows updates. While we can typically resolve these issues, they are sometimes more time-consuming than is covered under our flat rate. This solution often requires that you provide a copy of your Windows operating system and key, in addition to any other software you may have installed on your computer. Backing up your data is key to ensuring that your data is not lost during the repair. For an additional fee, we can include data backup and restoration as part of your PC tune-up.
Another common issue is hardware component failure. Common fail points are hard drives, RAM, and video cards that can be easily replaced. Low hard drive space, underpowered video cards, and insufficient memory are frequently to blame for slow processing speed and other issues. As part of your PC tune-up, we will notify you and provide a detailed estimate of any hardware replacement that is necessary to repair your machine.
Know the limits
While our teams of skilled technicians work diligently to solve a wide variety of issues facing your computers and other technology, some issues are not fixable while others simply aren’t economical. We do not guarantee that all issues can be fixed. Once we’ve diagnosed your computer issues, we can offer our best assessment on whether the problem can be fixed and, if so, the most cost-effective steps to repair your equipment.
It is important to note that we cannot perform any walk-in services on Apple products, nor do we perform hardware repairs on laptops and tablets. For these devices, we recommend contacting the manufacturer for service.
Off-site service
Are you concerned about having technicians in your office doing computer repairs? We also offer our PC tune-up services at our location instead of yours. We can either come to you to gather the devices that need to be fixed, as well as the power cords, password, and a copy of your Windows OS, or you can deliver them to our offices. Since some repairs can table several hours or days, bringing your equipment on-site can allow us to run some processes overnight and complete your repairs more quickly.
Update to Windows 11
Although you have until 2025 to upgrade, there are a number of benefits to installing Windows 11 today if your computers are compatible. Find out how and if you should upgrade to Windows 11 here.
